Congressman Harris serves on the House Judiciary Committee, and his district is miles from where Iryna Zarutska was murdered.

“Well, good afternoon, friends and patriots. You know, over the last few weeks, something has become crystal clear: Western civilization is under siege. 

Violent criminals roam free in Democrat-run cities. And worst of all, innocent people are silenced, even killed, for their beliefs. 

The recent tragedies in North Carolina and Utah have shaken our country to its core. As we've already discussed today. 23-year-old Iryna Zarutska was stabbed to death by a repeat offender on a train in Charlotte, just outside my district, not far from where we are now. And 31-year-old Charlie Kirk was assassinated for sharing his ideas and his love of God and country. 

But these tragedies are not isolated incidents, but signs of a national epidemic of lawlessness and division that threatens the very fabric of our society. Iryna and Charlie have opened many eyes to the battle being waged against our nation. But this war isn't just against America — it's an assault on the entire West.

But we cannot let fear silence us. Their death should only fuel our resolve. We must protect the West and all it represents. And I'm glad to say that's exactly what the Republican trifecta is doing. 

While pro-crime Democrats have tried to ransack our nation, we've been fighting back against all their attacks, and we're off to a great start, whether you want to call it the One Big Beautiful Bill, or whether you want to call it the Working Families Tax Cut, I'm just here to tell you, it codified 28 of President Trump's executive orders and has delivered major wins across this nation. 

Radical progressive Democrats used your hard-earned tax dollars to bankroll a border invasion of over 10 million illegal aliens, to export woke ideology across this globe, and to weaponize federal agencies against everyday Americans. I'm telling you, call it a Big Beautiful Bill or Working Families Tax Cut with President Trump and Congress working together, seeing that law signed, that era is over. 

We voted to secure our borders by funding 10,000 additional ICE agents, 3,000 Border Patrol agents to carry out mass deportations and immigration enforcement. Call it the Big Beautiful Bill, or the Working Families Tax Cut — it's going to fund the border wall completion, just like we promised. 

And not only that, Republicans are giving businesses confidence again, for example, Red Bull is building a factory right here in Concord that's going to create thousands of jobs and provide major economic returns for this area. 

Democrats hate that we're scoring these wins, which is why they're turning to lawlessness and chaos. But, ladies and gentlemen, one thing is clear: evil thrives when good people stay silent. Evil wants us to cower in fear, to shrink back from the fight. And yet many of you in this room know that Christ has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind, and we are called to run the race set before us with courage and conviction.

 And so today I am standing here before you to say, as we are going to be welcoming in a few minutes, the Vice President of the United States, we will not be silent. We will not back down. We will honor the memory of those we've lost by working tirelessly to restore safety, to restore justice, and to restore hope to our communities.
