Harris & Miller Lead 28 Republicans in Slamming Brakes on “Abortion Tourism” Program for Illegals
WASHINGTON, DC — On Thursday, Representative Mark Harris (NC-08) and Rep. Mary Miller (IL-15) led a group of 28 lawmakers in introducing legislation that would prohibit taxpayer-funded abortion travel for illegal aliens.
“No American should ever have their tax dollars used to shuttle illegal aliens across state lines for abortions,” Representative Harris said. “That’s why we're fighting to stop these outrageous Biden-era policies that turned federal programs into a taxpayer-funded Uber for abortions. We’re going to end it.”
Rep. Mary Miller said, “Joe Biden turned federal agencies into abortion traffickers by directing the Office of Refugee Resettlement to arrange and finance abortion travel for illegal alien minors. President Trump's administration is rightfully moving to reverse this shocking abuse of taxpayer dollars, and I'm proud to partner with Congressman Mark Harris on legislation that permanently ends it.”
The No Taxpayer-Funded Abortion Travel For Illegal Aliens Act aligns with anticipated movement from the Trump Administration to eliminate a Biden-era regulation and properly enforce the Hyde Amendment, which prohibits taxpayer-funded abortions.
