Harris Statement on FDA’s Mifepristone Safety Study Update

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, Congressman Mark Harris (NC-08) released the following statement in response to the Food and Drug Administration’s court-ordered update on its mifepristone safety study:

“Chemical abortions are unsafe for the mother and lethal for the baby. Further delays are unacceptable and will result in the deaths of an additional 90,000 unborn children in pro-life states.

“We have a moral duty to protect the lives of the most vulnerable, and amid the continued absence of critical safeguards, Congress must pass my Teleabortion Prevention Act. My bill would crack down on mail-order abortions by requiring in-person medical care before, during, and after a chemical abortion.”
