Rep. Mark Harris’ Statement on President Trump's FY26 Budget Request

WASHINGTON, DC — On Friday, Representative Mark Harris (NC-08) issued the following statement after President Trump unveiled his FY 2026 Discretionary Budget Request:

"Under President Biden, the radical left treated the federal budget like a slush fund. The American people's hard-earned tax dollars bankrolled a border invasion of over 10 million illegal aliens, exported woke ideology across the globe, and weaponized federal agencies against everyday Americans. That era is over.

President Trump’s budget marks a turning point. It delivers a $163 billion reduction in non-defense spending—returning our federal budget to pre-COVID levels. This budget reflects the common sense priorities the American people voted for: secure borders, strong national defense, and an end to wasteful, weaponized programs. 

It’s a bold step toward restoring fiscal sanity so that our kids and grandkids don't spend their lives cleaning up Washington's mess."
